I installed Murphy switch gauges on a tractor once that was being used on a grain dryer and would be left running unattended for hours. The devices monitor the engines functions and shut the engine off if there is a problem. The device you show mounts on the engine and monitors oil level in the engine. If the oil level would fall too low it will shut the fuel supply off by means of an electric solenoid valve in the fuel line. The Murphy system I had also monitored engine temperature and oil pressure.
