Fishing85 of 791Bait CanteenHere's my favorite antique vintage fishing lure. It's a James Heddon No. 150 glass eyed lure with it's wooden box.

These floats are all about 4" in diameter, made of very thick glass and all float. All six have bubbles in the glass and flaws. Only two have markings. One has a partial 6 or 9, which may actually be part of a design and maybe some symbols in the middle. The other one has a "1" on the plug (button). I think one or two others may be marked but the marks are indistinct. It may just be roughness in the glass buttons, not markings. Due to the bland colors, minimal signs of use and thick glass, I think these may be contemporary floats, made while glass floats were in use, but sold as novelty items or for other purposes. Not sure where I got these or of the country of origin. Thoughts on these welcomed.

Glass fishing floats were made and used by numerous countries. Japan was relatively late in the use of glass fishing floats. Apparently, the majority of floats for sale on ebay, etsy, etc., are contemporary manufacture or modern Asian reproductions. The majority of used fishing floats and contemporary manufactured floats for curio and gift shop sale were blue-green in color:

@Ms.CrystalShip - Thanks for your comment! Nice story. Several nations from Norway to Japan made and used glass fishing floats.
