This bowl is a bit over 5.5" high and 7.25" in diameter. It weighs 5 lbs and 14 ounces (2 kg). It is a big chunk of glass, both size and weight. Green glass and a bit of cranberry at the bottom cased in clear glass. Bottom is flat ground and polished. It originally had a "Bohemia Crystal" label on it, but when the seller picked it up to pack it, she found the label had fallen off and she could not find it. The label was pretty worn (image included). Original use was probably as an ashtray. I can't find any scratches or other damage on it.

Calling it Chribska as that seems to be the most likely maker. Nice piece of glass. I need to check the foundations of my house to make certain they are not settling due to the weight of the Czech and Japanese glass I have been buying lately. This piece is part of my effort to add some representative pieces of Bohemian art glass to my collection. I like this period. Mostly buying only labeled stuff, but this is close enough.

The seller had two of these, both in mint condition, though the other one never had a label, but I couldn't rationalize buying both even though they were very inexpensive. Don't say it!

I love Chribska pieces that have a tinge of the second colour in the foot alone. Somehow more subtle, if a heavy hunk of glass can be subtle!

@sklo42 - Rule of thumb. "If it is too heavy to throw at a burglar, it is not subtle."

      Thanks AdeleC, Jenni and iggy!

LOVE LOVE LOVE that 'throw it at a burglar' quote Kevin -- it indeed looks like an otherwise beautiful chunk of glass that could truly serve that 'alternative' purpose too quite handily -- it'd only take half of a good swing of it to rearrange somebody else's brain cells for a brief moment, until the cops arrived...? <LOLOLOLOL>

@AnythingObscure - Thanks for your kind words! I also call being able to pick up one of these large chunks of glass an "age gauge". Someday I probably won't be able to do it!

Thanks for loving my Chribska bowl AnythingObscure and Findings!

This one's my favorite potentially 'skull splitting' ashtray in the current collections Kevin, but its rock instead of glass...? ;-)
      <LOLOL>, again -- happy holidaze my friend! :-) :-) :-) :-)
