    I found this tool at my uncle's house. Don't know what it's for. Tool for removing bark? Used for cutting a V in wood? Some kind of a plane? It was in a mining town.

      Thanks, that's it. Now I'll have to look for the other half. I was thinking it was my grandfather's, but it was my grandmother's. I can sleep at night now.

      Yes it is a sad iron handle. AC Williams Co irons. I think that type of iron has another name I will look up.

      I agree with sad iron handle. I have an iron or two without handles that I use for door stops. The handles always seem to get lost which makes them an in demand item to collectors.
