Found this little gem half buried and filled with sediment next to some railroad tracks that run by my work on my lunch break today. It cleaned up rather nicely, a few scratches but no cracks. It's a straight amber bottle from the Chattanooga bottler. I'm thinking probably between 1900-1910. I think it's neat how it's stayed out there all that time and not broken. It's really heavy too, nice and thick glass.

Anybody know anything about how rare these particular bottles are or what it might be worth? Info on amber Chattanooga bottles is a little short on the internet. Thanks!

Ummm... Try 1915-1917. From all the factors (ABM lip, shoulder script, and bottom script.) I'm pretty comfident that its from that time frame. I'm not trying bring you down at all, that's a neat bottle! Especialy because you found it in the dirt by railroad tracks. Who knows, maybe in 1916, they were serving coke on the train, and somebody threw it out the window. Nice find! I'm usually low on my pricing, but I'd say that's a 45-60 dollar bottle.

Thank you very much for the date correction. No bringing me down on this find. I'm just looking for the most accurate information possible on it so I appreciate it. I really love to collect antiques and imagine the history behind them. You never know where an item has been. could have been served on the train, could have been drunk by a rail worker.

Actually ray, you're not far off. I went back yesterday evening and found four intact food/medicine jars from the 1920s I think its probably an old dump and I plan to do some more digging out there. Never know if there might be more neat coke stuff.
