      Obviously a Stanley tool and the logo will date it as well there should be a tool or item number on it that will help identify it.

      Never seen anything like it either, but agreeing with fhrjr2 that any numbers/markings on it will be the key to solve the puzzle, and I can see it has at least a number stamped on it. That your pics of it (you can still add two more to this showing!) appear to be on the counter of an auto parts store strongly suggests to me, too, that it is some kinda specialized 'car-fixing' tool...is the sorta rusty looking little part magnetic, by any chance?
      OH, and welcome to CW! You gots any more weird old tools to puzzle us with...?? :-) :-) :-) <lol>
