Vintage Central America Costa Rica Carved jade alligator crocodile 9+ inches 421 grams/15oz

This was a gift from a doctor in Coast Rica, some years ago, to the wife of a doctor friend of mine. She was told it was very old, real and from that region of Central America. I would appreciate any help in identifying it, from someone who has knowledge of these peoples or the jade that was available to them, which i know was limited. .............Thanks.
