I acquired this trunk from friends who purchased a house and it was left behind. I can't find any logos or names to identify it. It is all leather with leather corners and handles. Can anyone help me with this?
I have something similar to this, and have dated it around 1945, however yours looks much older but the sticker Tourist Class Cunard Line would have been around about the same time as mine.
It does say tourist on it and travel year was 1963 coming from Soton port England UK. Any idea what the HCW stands for? It looks like it's branded on both ends. I'm wanting to make it into a coffee table but don't want to ruin it if it's worth saving.
H .C .W. is probably the person that owned it, initials.

Yes, the initials on the ends are the owners initials. The trunk is a leather covered Steamer trunk (also called a Cabin trunk). It was made in Great Britain probably early to mid 1900's.

One of the many makers and a larger manufacturer in London , that produced this style of (cabin) trunk was John Pound. His advertising does provide a glimpse into what was being produced in the industry in Great Britain during that time period. I also agree that the owners initials were the most common for lettering on a trunk. Below are links to some images that may shed light.
Some of the hardware in the advertising is quite similar. This of course does not mean that it was made by him, for without a label it is hard to be definitive.
