Well, it's been a long time since I posted anything. I was pre-occupied with my classic volvo P1800 through most of 2019 and it was either spend on glass or the car, I couldn't stretch myself to spend on both and perhaps, unsurprisingly, the car won out.
So now that nights are drawing in, the days are getting colder and the car is now wrapped-up for the winter, I'm back trawling the web for fine glass at cheap prices. not always easy, until I grabbed this last week for just £60! It had been listed on Ebay since August - go figure!!
It's a wonderful Kralik glass shade (not Pallme Koenig, which was my original thought) in a yellow spatter and red surface threading. The bowl is 14" (36cm) in diameter and approx 8" deep (20cm). The metal is typical of french ironwork of the 1920's and earlier and is entirely original, with no repairs or damage. So I'm not entirely sure both pieces are contemporary - but looks good to me - any ideas? Hangs 33" (83cm).
Looks Great !!!
Are there holes in the glass for the fittings ???
Hi Kev -yes there are holes.
Absolutely stunning shade, Phil. Looks like you're keeping it to yourself in what I take to be your glass room. And why not.... you'll never see it without smiling!
So true Peggy... but I'm thinking it will end up over the family dining table.... hopefully with other period pieces and hopefully before all my children leave home.... we'll see....
That is a gorgeous light, Phil!! I love the shade with the fittings, and hope you do get it over your dining table eventually!
This reminds me, that I need to take my medication. LOL !
That’s extremely special, and such happy colours. Light it up Phil.
It would be nice to see your P1800 too, such cool cars. Love the coupe/estate blend.
Hey Michelle - I will get the dining lighting sorted - just need a couple more period shades and I'll get to work....
Wow! Lovely!
Hey thanks Karen - yes day I will ge car on here.... but when you've owned something like that for over 20 years... it's hard to know where to start..
