    Hi

Just got this original painting which I believe the genre is "Croatian Naive"... probably from the 1970s/80s.
I have read about this style before but never seen one for real..until now and I love it!
The style on this particular one looks a little bit like pointillism ..lots of small dabs/dots of paint.

I am trying to work out if there are some initials of the artist on the bottom left hand corner..(see picture).... or is it my imagination ?
...if anyone knows who painted it I would appreciate some info...in the meanwhile I will continue looking for some spare wall space to hang it up!

    see ya
    Paul

    UPDATE
Following the comment by Kunst below I have been comparing my painting with the image on the book cover. Although they appear, at first look, to be identical there are in fact minor but, obviously, significant differences.

I have put up two new pictures to show this - for example on the book there is some shading on the tree and also the wavy line on the girl's skirt is different. (as marked by green arrows on the pictures). (The the colouring is also different in general... but his could all have been done with with photoshop or something to make the image better for the book).

Having said that, the placement of all the subjects and objects are incredibly accurate.

On the reverse is a label from the best framing company (and most expensive) in Brussels. Suggesting someone thought highly of it.
The paper that seals the back is also intact. The design of the label and the general look of the back suggests it is from the 1980s..or there about.

So ladies and gentlemen, any idea what I have here ?... an original by the artist ? (artists sometimes make more than one version of their work - for example there are four official versions of "The Scream" by Edvard Munch)...or is it a forgery ? ...or perhaps simply a copy by an admirer of his/her work ?

I have written to the publisher to ask them the name of the artist...and also messaged the author - no replies yet.

    Regards
    Paul
p.s ..I am not researching this for the monetary value but simply because (as I suspect is the case with the majority of people on this web site), we simply have to know the history to bring it alive!

Wow...thanks for that Kunst... it is not exactly identical to this picture..(for example the birds are different...)...but obviously the similarities are striking.

,,...but now I am wondering... is mine a copy by someone else ? or did the artist paint variations of the same picture ?

....still some more digging to do.... but thanks again for letting me know.

will post what I find out.

      regards

      Paul
