I found these two pictures today. Somehow they spoke to me but I would like to find out more about them before I put them on my walls (or maybe not).

Both pictures are images of a big city. One of the images shows buildings still under construction. I would guess that the place is somewhere in North America and the time might have been 1930-1940's. I don't recognize neither the buildings nor the cars but somehow the images have a Art Deco feeling. Allthogh the pictures seem to have been executed with quite some technical skill, I wouldn't say that they are very creative.

I was tempted to open up the frame to see if there is more information but so far I have resisted this urge. I don't even know if the tow pictures are prints or etchings. The paper seems to be of good quality and there is a raised border visible around the images.

Both pictures are signed in pencil but I can not figure out what the name is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for looking:)

Hi Mary, I didn't know who made these two etchings, mainly because I couldn't read the signature and I was looking for the images in the US, but they are in England. No wonder I couldn't find them.
      From Wikipedia:

"William Walcot RE (10 March 1874 ā€“ 21 May 1943) was a British architect graphic artist and etcher, notable as a practitioner of refined Art Nouveau (Style Moderne) in Moscow, Russia. His trademark Lady's Head keystone ornament became the easily recognisable symbol of Russian Style Moderne. In 1920sā€“1930s, he concentrated on graphic art and was praised as the best architectural draftsman in London..."

I opened the links. They seem to be safe.
