RARE carte de visite pair of Frederick Brown of the 18th US Infantry.
Brown served all four years of the Civil War in the 18th US Infantry. Post- war he moved west with the Regiment.
He was killed by Sioux Indians in the Fetterman Massacre while stationed at FT Kearny, Dakota Territory.
This pair of cdvs have ink identification on the back and match known images of Brown. Additionally, the images bear the backmark of Witt of Columbus, Ohio and show sequential negative numbers (552/ 553).
Images of Brown are rare to find.
My images, don't copy!
