Breakdown Tractor is another name for a tow truck apparently and this is a rather heavy duty tow truck. Perfect for towing all the Scammel, Leyland, and other King Size Matchbox models. This is a heavy duty wrecker check out that boom. It is worthy of a crane. Plus it has dual axles and a king sized cab. The cab has four doors to carry a crew to the wreck site. It is marked "Matchbox" Service Station. Matchboxused to have similiar markings on several of their models but switched to actual companies in the later 1960s.
This is another model based on a Foden vehicle. Has that distinctive diamond on the grill. Foden was very popular with the makers of Matchbox cars.
This model was made from 1963-1968. As it didn't come with a box it isn't possible to narrow down the age range. So 1963-1968 is it.
Lots of exciting finds so exciting posts to come.
Love these old "Boxes". Never heard the term "breakdown tractor" before, but it makes sense.
Thank you very much Toyrebel and yes it does.
