Here are some of the Bohemian garnet brooches I have collected over the last couple years. I posted my first Garnet brooch a couple of years ago and have stumbled across several in group lots since then. Plus, garnet is my birthstone. Hope you enjoy these and please tell me your favorite!
They are all so lovely and garnet is such a beautiful birthstone, hope you had or will have a happy January BD MrsT! Love that gorgeous butterfly :)
Love these. They are beautiful examples. Hard to chose the favorite. I think it is the swag in the middle at the top of the first picture. So delicate and Belle Epoque in design.
My birthstone is garnet too, MrsT! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
I think my fav is that kinda odd one at the top left with more metal showing...is it silver?
I, too, am a January baby. I used to hate the ugly brown/red garnets I'd always see (80's/90's) and wished I could have one of the pretty birthstones. After I learned that there are so many other beautiful varieties out there and that brown/red isn't necessarily the standard, my opinion has drastically changed. These are all gorgeous examples. I'm super jealous! That one in the middle of the top row is striking. It's probably my favorite.
Wow, all so lovely MrsT!
I know I'm a bit pedestrian, but I actually love the diamond. The spiky stones around the edge do it for me!
LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!!! One of my daughters is born in January so I am always on the lookout for garnets. They are so hard to come by here.
Very nice collection of Garnet Brooches Mrstyndall! :^D The Butterfly reminds me of a Painted Lady Butterfly, but I really like the big one on the bottom! My Mother, and oldest Son were born in January, so we always knew that Garnet was the January Birth Stone! Thanks so much for showing these Beauties! :^)
All of them look to be faves !~
How beautiful!.
Jenni, appreciate your kind words and well wishes!
Plein-air-painter, thank you, I really like the design on that one too!
Anythingobscure, Happy January birthday! There are no markings on that piece, thanks for looking :)
Kjane, Happy Birthday to you too :). When I was little, my grandmother gave me a garnet ring. I did not know about these Bohemian garnets until I had purchased one in a group lot and did not know what it was. Since then, I have found several more.
Racer, glad you like that one! Thanks
