This little 1880's or 90's item came up, being a metal covered dome top hat trunk with all cast iron hardware & beaded slats. Also came with a complete and original interior which is always great. Although not shown in the original ad photos or text, I was very pleased and surprised to find it had the original J. Eveleigh & Co. - Montreal Canada makers label still attached. It measures in at 22" Long x 19" Tall x 16.5" Deep... with a mild double curve top. Exterior condition is very good with more surface scratches than dings and dents and was in what looks to be the red mottled pattern. Wheels are the cheaper pressed steel body verses the cast iron style. The cast iron hardware with the heart shape pattern is a first encounter for me. Perhaps its strictly a Canadian trunk attribute. The lock is Pat. Oct 2, 1883 and Apr. 8, 1884. Hope you fellow trunkers find it of interest.
What a beautiful trunk in such amazing conditions. I truly enjoyed this posting. Thank you for sharing.
