I have acquired this piece recently and I am trying to determine what it is. I think I have narrowed it down to being a biscuit jar but only becasue I have found other items online that seem to have a similar shape.

The markings on the bottom indicate it is from Odin Domaas (O. Domaas), a Norwegian silversmith from Trondheim. It also indicates .830 Silver (830S). The word "Handarbeid" (I believe this may be handmade or handcrafted) is stamped in bottom as well along with the numbers 6086A.

My internet searching has led me to believe that his piece may have been made before 1920 as Norwegian silver was .830 prior to that time and often .925 was used after.

Your item is a tankard used for drinking beer, possibly in an inn or someone's home. In those days you didnt pick up a 6 pack of Blue Moons. You filled a tankard and one person would drink then pass it on to the next. Most have markings on the inside to deliniate one share from the next drinker's. Some used pegs and are known as... "peg tankards". (lol, makes sense, doesnt it? ) Either way your lidded silver tankard is worth a good chunk of change even though it's not sterling because they are rare and it's probably older than you think. Collectors prize them. Google "silver peg tankard" and you'll see ones that look similar. If you are interested I know someone who can give you a professional appraisal. He taught me at least 1/2 of what I know about silver.
