When Duane saw this he had to have it. So we do, lol.
This is the 403.02 opaque red "Brighella" mask that was made by Venini in 1988. It retains the Venini label and is signed on the reverse "venini 88". The stand appears to have been customized to the mask.
Brighella was a stock character from the Italian theatre style, Commedia dell'arte.
The mask is:
6-7/8" (17.5 cm) across
6-1/4" (15.9 cm) tall
4-1/2" (11.4 cm) deep
Beautiful and reminds me that Carnaval is almost here
JUST WONDERFUL !!!!
PULCINELLA ????
I am sure it could be described as a Pulcinella mask.
I updated the OP with catalog information (number and name) that was provided by a member of the Murano FB group.
I would love to have one.... carnavalle in Venezia....When again?
