Last week I showed an old cast iron kettle I "came across" recently. ;-)

Then, today while at the Goodwill store on the 'pots n pans' shelves, I spotted a rusty cast iron *lid*. Hmmm, I says to myself, that sure looks like its about the same size as that old kettle I just gots...?? Picked it up, noticed it didn't have a price on it and that there was no other cast iron pan/pot anywhere on the rest of the shelves that it might 'go with'. Stuck it in my basket anyway, figgering it was worth a chance at the checkout line. When the clerk picked it up I told her "there's no price marked on that and nothing else there it looks like it goes with?" -- and she said "oh, OK -- I'll see if I can get a price for it" and disappeared into the office for a moment. That price turned out to be a little under $8...I was hoping for less but after a moment's thought replied "ring it up"?! :-)
The pics here show what I was delighted to find once I did get it home -- it fits my kettle **perfectly**!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) Ain't it FUN to find two old relics of the past that somehow manage to fit together, even though they likely never were paired before...?? <LOL>
The only markings on it are what I think is a "1" and a "V 3" either stamped or cast into its underside. Like my iron pot itself, that is exactly the extent of my knowledge about what it really is, who made it, or when. Further clues are welcomed, should those numbers actually mean something to somebody??!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
