I aquired this flag when I was 12 y/o in 1985 from an antique shop in small town of todmorden England, 20 miles north of Manchester. My parents came from this town. I asked my grandfather to take me to buy a union Jack to bring back to America, I was wanting a shiny new one, instead we got this for 2 quid. I was disappointed at the Time, but I'm not anymore
I think you have a really old one. You can't just throw a Union Jack on the back of a U.K. registered boat. You would have to look up the regulations, but as I remember, they have to have a "field". Red (as I remember) means naval aux.. White is navy. Blue field for commonwealth countries, with their individual symbols. Not saying I'm right on this, but gives you a starting point.
