I dug this up outside our 1826 plantation house. It appears to be made of iron or steel, and is very heavy and rusted. It also appears to be broken or worn away in spots. Any idea what it is?

Possible part of old door hinge?

If those are typical paper towels its pictured on (for size reference, making it ~6" long?) and if its big square end isn't 'solid' -- could it be the remains of a 'trailer hitch' sorta fitting used on the end of a wooden shaft for hooking old farm wagons/etc together??

Thank you for the responses. The square end is completely solid so I don’t think it’s a trailer hitch. And I don’t think it’s a door hinge because there are no holes in the two extended parts. Any other ideas?
