Dragged up in the Gulf of Maine

This was found in the net of a dragger, about 30 years ago, in the Gulf of Maine. It was given to me, perhaps 20 years ago. It is either unglazed on the outside, or possibly the glaze wore off. Inside is faintly grayish. Curious to know if anyone has thoughts on the origins...
