This was passed down to me, feels like ceramic beads. 14"" long, each bead is about a 1/4" in diameter. It's a bit snug on me, so I do not wear it. The decoration appears to be white with gold swirls, believe it to be painted rather than part of a glaze. I know it belonged to my maternal grandmother, born in 1904. The catch appears to be brass. Curious about origins and value.

Hello Angus 100, These are old Venetian glass beads, they probably don't look like glass to you but they are. The " glitter " in them is called aventurine. My estimate would be from the 1920s. You could get them restrung with a small seed bead in between which would probably bring them up to a wearable length. They are very nice collectable beads. Sue.
