As a collector you sometimes end up with pieces that makes you think about its previous owners. This little ultrathin photo locket engraved "Helga 19 21/3 10" is such a piece. Very worn with bumps and scratches. First I thought it was copper but I am not sure, could be some other metal. I wonder if it is Helga and her loved one or maybe it is Helgas parents, one photo taken when her mother was young and one of her father taken later?
Who were they? What happened on 21 of march 1910? Was it her birthday? I will never know...
It looks like it went thru a War??
Stuff
Yes I agree but we haven't been to war since 1814.
I am always sad when I see something like this. I guess there is nobody around anymore who cares about the people who owned and cherished this locket at one time. I found a cigarette case not so long ago and I wanted to find out more about it, too. It is no easy.
I know it is sad. I can never sell pieces like this, well I hardly ever sell anything since I can't part from them... LOL. But I feel I wouldnt have the stomack for it. I will have to take care of them or give them to a museum.
I totally agree!
We found one of these except it has a diamond in it. And found a marriage certificate huge from 1887 with the people on it. Same date. Which helped me on my ancestry page.. love it...
I meant to say ours has dents in it as well..
I see Wideawake, how nice to find clues like that!
Yes, clue help. I do have alot of pictures here no clues. I know it was family. It's like a puzzle, which I love.. lol
You have a Gorgeous Collection, Congrats!
Thank you very much Lata! And we all need more to our collections don't we :) ?
