This is a Civil War discharge paper, the name on it is of my 4th great grandfather, Amaziah C. Mitchell. On the far left is the whole front of it. In the middle is a cropped/zoomed shot of the writing portion. On the far right is the only printing on the back, it describes what he looks like. Enlisted on 7/20/1861 as a Private at age of 21.

On 8/7/1861 he mustered into "E" Co. OH 27th Infantry

He was Mustered Out on 8/17/1864 at Chattanooga, TN.

During his term of service the 27th OH fought at Cornith, Resaca, Dallas, and Atlanta (Rgt continued the siege of ATL after his discharge).

The 27 lost 6 officers and 80 men in battle and another 6 officers and 122 men by disease.

The Regiment was mustered out July 11, 1865.
