Here is a rare 1940's aluminum cast North America Aviation (NAA) factory model that was custom finished as Capt. Don Gentile's P-51B. He was the leading ace of the 4th Fighter Group while stationed at Debden AAB in England during WW2. The assembly is unique and departs from other period models and features a cast aluminum ashtray that can be removed from the base for easy cleaning. The NAA logo is prominently cast into the top of the ashtray casting surrounded by the NAA cobalt blue embossing. The model also features a prop assembly with brass bearings for smooth rotation and no unsightly pin sticking through the spinner. It is approximately 1:72 scale and was detailed as Don's 'SHANGRI-LA' a P-51B that was his favored mount early in 1944.
The whole assembly has been overhauled for the current 4th Fighter Group Association staff in January of this year.
