Added a couple of rings to the top of this brooch and hey presto! A necklace. I am wearing this today to remind me of beauty in a world of fear and sadness. This perks me up whenever I catch a glimpse of it. I don’t know who made it ,or designed it , but I have come to the conclusion that some pieces will remain anonymous and that’s ok . Someone’s skilled hands worked it with care and attention. I found a very similar piece in the archive section of the beautiful Tadema Gallery site. That piece was attributed to Zoltan White , so maybe? I had to wait for a couple of months to get this one but for me it was worth the wait . Ok back to my books now , I’m sure I saw something somewhere I wanted to research ???? hee hee !
I love it!
Hello Watchsearcher , thanks for your comment. I love it too ! It’s makes me feel happy ????
Lovely piece!
Very pretty, can you put a photo of the back, Sue.
Peasejean55, hi Jean just posted images of the back. The stones are real! Thanks for commenting and looking again.
Hello freiheit , thanks for the lovely comment . I really love it.
Oh ! The funny little brown cube at the end of the pin is a piece or cork. The pin was sticking in to me at certain angles so I put the smallest plug of cork on the end . Works a treat ! The clasp is a simple C type.
Thanks for posting photos of the back, it looks to me that it has a look of Austrian Hungarian look to it. It could be Zoltan White somehow I don’t think it is, I could be wrong. Zoltan white was born in the UK but I think his parents were from Austria or Hungary. He did a apprenticeship in Budapest, so his jewellery is very similar to the style of Austrian Hungarian pieces. I thought he marked his jewellery with Z White & co made in England. He was active between 1900 - 1940.
Thanks Jean , I only mentioned Zoltan White, honestly I would have had no idea, but Jewels1900 ( thankyou so much ) told me about Tadema Gallery and I looked up that site to do research . In their archive I spotted a piece that is so similar in construction, back and front, different shaped stones, but so similar metal work. I would put an image of that up here, but I am not sure if you are allowed to do that ?? Don't want to get into trouble with the site. If anyone knows if it is ok to do that could you please let me know ? Much appreciate your input Jean. I will do a bit of research on Zoltan white now :)
Nothing best than being able to wear a brooch as a necklace without altering it ;-)
I generally clasp them on pearls or stone beads necklaces too.
Very nice construction and color combo :-)
Ah, just noticed your anti poke cork piece!
Needle poking our tender flesh is a pain!
I use little silicone cone bits used as earring posts!
