I found this old framed advertisement at my aunts estate today. It's pretty interesting with the "Deluxe Invalid Coach" trailer business advertisement. Ralph G. Cooksey was a "Funeral Director" who had his license revoked by the board in a 1941 court case. I included a photo of the stamp on the original paper backing. It looks like a 4 digit phone number.
How interesting! Now I want to delve into what offenses got his license revoked....that must have been creepy!
His invalid coach may have been a way of trolling for business which could come his way sooner rather than later.
This picture is a terrific find!!
This is some of what the court records show.-
"(f) That the licensee has caused the defamation of a duly licensed funeral director in this State by falsely imputing to him dishonorable conduct, inability to perform contracts, or the handling of inferior merchandise."
"(g) That the licensee has shipped or delivered merchandise or supplies, with the intent to deceive the purchaser, which did not conform to the samples submitted or representations made prior to securing the order therefor."
"(k) That the licensee has willfully interfered with a licensed funeral director having lawful custody of a dead human body in the performance of his duty as such funeral director."
So he sent the wrong Casket ?
