I am not sure what kind of boat this is. It has not been registered or put in the water since 1978. It has been fiberglass painted waterline down. Not sure if anyone can help me out with this, I would greatly appreciate any feedback.
Grandfathers old wooden fishing boat. Has not been in the water since 1977. Not sure what kind it is or what is worth. It has been painted with fiberglass on water line years ago to preserve it. Please any feedback would be appreciated.
O.K., I tried to help you with this but you have deleted my posts...........I guess you're not serious about wanting help.... good day !
actually i really dont know how this works . I am a new user and not really all that comp. literate. Sorry if i offened you, i just dont know how it works, that you leave them for always. Now that I know that I will leave them on there.
We can see where there was a plate but it isn't there anymore. If I find an old registration can that help me?
You really don't need to leave them for 'always' but one needs to at least acknowledge that they were there so that someone else doesn't ask the same question or give advice you already have... That registration might be good news if it includes the serial number or any other info, also the state in which it was registered might also be able to help....You might try them on-line, most have serviee desks.....Good Hunting.....It's a great looking boat with potential....... Just one thing........Michigian Registrations begin with ....MI, not MC.....I don't know what state uses MC.
Try this link to find information, use the number as shown on the boat and as I think it should be and see if they have anything...............:http://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,4670,7-127-13162-25634--,00.html
This site tells me that MC are the correct letters for michigian so I'm wrong again but that gives you more to go on. : http://www.michigan.gov/documents/decals_16060_7.pdf
the only thing i could think of that # was was liscence #
thank you will let you know the outcome.
Could it possibly be a Fitts' Falcon? I'm looking for one.
i do not know that is what i am trying to figure out..
i do not know much about boats. all i know is that it is in great condition and nice looking
Beautiful boat, looks very solid. Looks like its missing it's duckboards thought that would lay on the bottom of the boat for walking on.
As far as a maker, I would check with some of the canoe companies who manufactured boats also in the 40's-50's. This boat looks almost identical to one I had planned on restoring but sold when I moved. Some of these canoe companies had Native American names, I wouldn't be surprised if it was made in Maine or elsewhere in New England. Looks like cedar-lap over a white oak frame and transom...Good luck!
p.s. The fiberglass was probably appled back in the 70's when it was all the rage as a lightweight, waterproof covering. Hopefully the hull is in good shape if you decide to take it off and return it to it's original cedar finish
yes the fiberglass was put on on there by my uncle in the 70's so it would be preserved. thank you i will check into that , that wax helpful
by the way busjunky who made the boat you were going to restore.
I have be racking my brain trying to think of it. It was a canoe company though, one with a Native American name, like Nargansett or something like it.
stella 72 :I can't help you as far as who made the boat but in Cederville Michigan every year they have a wooden boat show for about a week.It is in mid summer, been a few years since I have attended but it is a good one.Your boat looks in good shape,a little elbo grease and it would be gleaming. Before you get it on the highway check your trailer tires-after a few years they get weather checked and I didn't see a spare.
thank you
