I bought this orphan epergne hoping to find a suitable holder. It is a Loetz PG 85/5047 in an unknown PN. The decor is new or metallic red under a clear layer, covered with silver spots that are randomly swirled. The glass is 6.5" x 2.5" probably ca 1900.
I am tickled to death over the holder, which mimics a woody vine and flower. It is Deykin & Sons silverplate, Birmingham, doing business from 1854-1895. Total height 8.5"
The glass is beautiful. I am tickled to death that you've paired it with something made in Birmingham in its manufacturing heyday. I grew near there.
Thanks sklo42! It's a great little holder with lots of details and nice craftsmanship. I think the two make a great pairing!
Yeah I agree, your pairing is great. Nice find.
Thanks RichmondLori! The glass looked lonely by itself.
