Hacking knives like these were usually used by glaziers to hack out old putty from window frames but shoemakers also used them to hack off old soles. The backs of both have been flattened from continuous hammering. Each is about 8 inches long and has a leather scale handle. One is made by George Butler of Sheffield, England but I cannot read the maker's mark on the other.
