Although i do not collect hot wheels cars, this one came to me, i found it inside a vintage couch while restoring it, how cool is that?
The Turbofire is one of four Hot Wheels original designs from 1969. The rear hatch opens to expose a turbine motor.
As with all moving parts the hinges are fragile and are susceptible to breaking, causing the hatch to fall off and become lost.
Turbofires have a red painted tail light. All Turbofires are made in the USA and no casting variations have been found (other than the size of the (R) on the base which can be either small or large, this does not affect the value). All Turbofires have clear glass and most have white interiors. Black interiors have been found on very few red cars.
Most Turbofires have 'bearing' wheels but some have been found with 'capped' wheels (this also does not affect the value).
The Turbofire was reproduced by the Muky toy company for the Argentinian market.

I actually think I *had* one of those in my little fleet of HotWheels cars when I was a kid?!!! [could it have been purple??]
yes, they were produced in several colors, including purple :)
Thank you
Lata, this is one of the Red Line Hot Wheels, and were given away at Shell Gas Stations, I still have some in the Bubble Pack, with the Hot Wheels Turbofire clip button, along with over a dozen more! :^D Thanks for showing, nice find! :^)
What a cool find :)
Yep. I had one of those! Didn't take it off to college, of course, and lost track of it along with all the others. Thanks for sharing.
@billretirecoll Thank you for the cool info! i had no idea they were gifts at Shell Stations, this items are really rare here in Europe.
Thank you Trey and Bruce, and all the others for the loves.
