bought this today and it is a very old porcelain sign, its small at roughly 3 1/4 x 6 3/4 . Someone many years ago taped the translation on a paper . I think its quite cool. I wondered as the reverse says Gladiator , I can not seem to find a company of this name and also why would this be printed in english? its heavy almost a 1/2 pound. and very old. I would love to hear any thoughts on this , Thank you ahead for any help.
Keep in mind that just because it is written in German doesn't mean it was used there. Germans travel just like all of us. This could have been used in any country to prod Germans to obey local customs and rules.
Bavarian motor and wagon (BMW)
Wagen actually means car or other such vehicle.
The company that made the sign may not have been German.
Great , thanks all for your insight,
Vynil BMW = Bavarian Motor Works. Try Volkswagen, the peoples wagen.
