This pretty little trunk came from an auction in CT - I was outbid as the trunk was full of old postcards. Lo and behold the buyer didn't want the trunk and a fellow flea market friend introduced me to the buyer, we made the deal and I brought this little gem home for a song. Well not really a song. We brought it home, and I did some light sanding to it, then handrubbed Watco - but of course I was impatient and didn't let it dry completely, and then I don't know what possessed me - but I then sprayed it with satin urethane. Lesson learned, slowww down. Bruce ended up re-sanding the whole trunk, taking off the coats of mistakes I had put on it. This time the Watco dried between coats, no urethane, and the finish is gorgeous. In my 25 years of refinishing trunks, my 92 year old mom has been the chief trunk liner, and with the pandemic - I have not been able to see her (brother taking care of her and she is healthy and fine) - but I took the lessons she gave me and lined this beauty. So much fun sewing the edges, remarkably calming to sew. After all pieces were ready, Bruce adheared the fabric to the trunk and whala - we have a lovely refinished trunk. Stay healthy and safe everyone, Peace!!
