I inherited this clock from my parents who inherited it from my maternal grandma. As far as I know she was the original owner. I’ve researched a bit and think it’s an Ansonia mantel clock with a Mercury topper. It is 2 pieces, he sits on top. There are two holes in the top of the clock that line up perfectly with two pegs on the bottom of him. I don’t find anything like this in all my searches. It is a very large piece. The lotion bottle is a full size lotion about 7” tall. I appreciate help from anyone who knows more.

      Hello jnlnsa,

Welcome to the Clocks section of Collectors Weekly.

You have a model of Metal Mantel Clock which the Ansonia Clock Company called their "Hector". It is from circa 1904. Your particular model may have been manufactured several years before or after that date.

This model originally retailed/listed for $31.00. When adjusted for inflation your family's clock would have cost about $900 so far in 2020 dollars.

Here's another good example although I think your heirloom appears to be in better condition: https://www.antiqueclockspriceguide.com/pages/clock9888.php
You can probably find other examples on the Internet.

Thank you for sharing your precious family heirloom with us.

I hope that we have solved your mystery. If so, please indicate "Mystery Solved" in your listing. If not, please let us know what other questions you may have.

      Regards,

      Bruce

You're very welcome jnlnsa. There were so many different models manufactured even as recently as your family clock that we often can't find much information on them. I'm glad we were able to find yours.

If your mystery is solved, please indicate that in your listing. I like to collect Solved Mysteries. :)

If you had not noticed, CW has a very nice, concise write up on the history of the Ansonia Clock Company if you're interested. See: https://www.collectorsweekly.com/clocks/ansonia

Take care. Let us know if you have any more questions and thanks again for sharing your Clock. I personally like Ansonia Clocks and yours is a beautiful, well cared for example.

      Stay healthy, stay safe.

      Bruce
