There's definitely rosy pink in this too- he's very cute and chubby! XD
I also find it hard to believe he's made from a piece of glass- it's done so well it looks like a piece of polished stone! His lifted head makes me think he's just hauled himself up on some rocky beach and is looking about curiously,...yet he seems so sleek and polished?! :P
Some parts really look like a light soapstone or almost marble !~
What a cutie, and so realistic looking!
What a sweet little face.I wonder if seals make good pets.If you got a baby and had a large swimming pool I bet you could tame one.I tamed up a wild adult raccoon over 6 months and a baby possum that hurt his leg.I spoon fed him for a month and he would ate anything especially dog food.It took a couple of weeks and he finally would let me pet him and scruff him up with a brush.I have so many videos that I sent my 2 year old granddaughter. It took 7 months for the little guy to heal and get big enough to dig up grubs and go out in his own so I turned him loose.I seen him 2 years later and called him.He remembered me and stopped to visit.I’m on my 3rd homeless cat that showed up in the backyard. My wife and our dog fell in love with it so he gets to come in the house and I don’t think he’s going anywhere. .Seals and penguins are so cute that always look like there having a good time. Thanks Jenni for posting this.

Lauren thank you my friend for the super compliments, I love his chubby cuteness as well, there is something very poignant about harp seals and their plight as hunted animals, I really love them. The body design sort of does look like a stone you're right, and unusual he made it grey when most are white
Great comment and observ Phil thank.you so much, I too can see a marble or soapstone look, Paul Miller used that texture in other animal pieces but in different colors, I have another in a bluish grey shade to post soon
Very kind compliments Ken I thank you, yes it does have a stone appearance but think Miller was trying for a different look here, he also made a polar bear that is all white and is so hard to photograph, perhaps the grey was better suited to this animal - it could have turned grey after coming out of an ice water bath tho lol!
Many thanks MrsT for your wonderful compliments, I too think Miller captured the essence of this animal very well, how they lay horizontally on the ice & snow, and that lovely winsome expression
Hello my dear friend jb and how are you & yours doing in the sunshine state, hope all is well. What a wonderful story of the wild raccoon that you tamed & raised, and how he recognized you, that's lovely. There is a story you may know about, two young British guys had a wild cat (tiger or lion, can't recall) they kept as a pet since a baby, but when it became grown it was too difficult to feed & maintain so they brought it to Africa and released it into the wild. Years later they went back to try to find it, and sure enough the wild cat remembered them, he jumped on them & nuzzled them and they were crying with joy. There's a video of the reunion on YouTube, maybe you can locate it, very touching story. My only personal animal "save" is a squirrel I released from a steel trap who my mean ex-landlord was planning to drown, that was a very good day!
Thank you for the lovely comment & kind compliments and stay well - luv Jenni
