Seems a suitable moment in these strange times to share this... Recently acquired from a Kansas antique dealer. An 1880's Occupational Tintype Photograph showing Women dressed in Black doing "Small Pox Cleaning"... Be grateful we now live with modern medical technology to deal with CONVID-19 -- instead of ladies with brooms. I wonder how many poor women were sacrificed to do this wretched work?
Neat image! Saw that one-- a very recent acquisition.

VERY recent ha ha...
It is though, in the mail.
Unusual scene-- I think you did well on it, especially with current interests.

Wait a minute, after looking again ,I think they may have been
spreading small Pox around,, I see that hard bucket hanging
with Small Pox in it ,, all around those rooms
With brooms ,,, maybe it was an Indian blanket factory
INTERESTING COMMENT.
I was only thinking , the bucket has smallpox written on it ,
makes it look like ,it contains ,small Pox for spreading around
Must say, you commentators bring up some salient explanations. I really appreciate it. I was struck by the image and the history of it, you have given me some thought provoking explanations of what the history behind the image might be.
Looks like a Queen w/orb and sceptre, two important looking people with other "bits", doctored(?). She has a very important hat on.
