This is the work of Saskatchewan painter, sculptor, artist extraordinaire! Joe Fafard (1942 -2019). These are on display at the Masters Gallery on Fourth Street in Calgary. The man sitting sculpture might be intended to be Fafard himself.
These are my photographs of the work.
Joe Fafard’s work is well-known throuout Western Canada, where he became somewhat of a cultural icon during his quite prolific working life. There are several large Fafard works in Calgary. One of his signature cows sits on a Calgary Foothills Hospital outdoor site.
My owned Fafard items, purchased in the 90s, are nowhere near this gorgeous. I am considering one item from this final collection: the red boat painting on the wall behind the old man sculpture.
Wonderful paintings Daisy - are the two of the red headed man self portraits by the artist, or possibly van Gogh
I should look a little more carefully at what I post — yes, van Gogh. The man on the chair sculpture is Fafard. Thanks. Will edit.
I remember meeting him once, but I never collected his work. When I met Mitchell she had painted that smaller oil of herself in that Van Gogh pose where he cut off his ear. Wonderful to remember him this way !~
Phil — Thank you here. I have finished guessing who the Mitchell you are referring to might be: W.O. and Ken are men, and you said “she.” Joni Mitchell seems wrong; does she even paint? Is this (female) Mitchell you refer to a personal friend, your partner, wife? Anyway, I don’t know who you’re talking about, my friend. TY.
Thanks for the Loves —

Wow, you must not know anything about Joni Mitchell. I guess since she was from Saskatoon I always admired her a lot. She prepared a book which she sold at the art gallery here, then they had a gala and the work was on display in the 1990's. I am sorry, I assumed everyone knew of her prowess in painting including paintings on her albums thru the years.
There are more than millions of things I know nothing about in this world. Thank you.
Me also, though I try more lately to know things more on what I am collecting at that moment.
Ok, then. Ahhhhh!
The red boat painting is a good choice :) Beautiful colors :)
