Please help me identify these cast-iron tools (or toys?) mounted on the wall of an entry room to an apartment in Essen, Germany. The ball at one end and the "handle" at the other are both made of cast iron.

Maybe for distance throwing competition ?

No idea but gotta love it just for being so odd-ball.

The handles look like they are designed for quick hand release. Maybe like discus throwing. Would be great training for throwing potato-masher(stick) grenades. LOL! Hey it is Germany ! BTW, stick grenades range is 1 1/2 - 2 times the palm held type.
