    It seems to me to be a bit large for a duffel bag but might be more appropriate for a larger mail bag.

      I did a Google search on duffel bag locks and found similar locks used by army forces on both sides of the WWI and WWII theaters. But I have not been able to match this Mystery Lock. I will need to wait until I receive the lock to see if there are any identifying marks on it.
