This is a neat item. I am not sure what it is used for, perhaps it is a wisk? If so what is it used for. I think it is Japanese?

It is a tea whisk, "Chasen" used in the Japanese traditional tea ceremony. It froths the matcha tea.
Is that made of bamboo?! Incredible workmanship to make all those tiny cuts.
