Yes the mighty Messerschmitt considered by many to be one of the best fighters of WWII. I think this is one of the earlier models as it lacks some of the details of later models. Plus the detailing on the body of the plane is a bit exaggerated. To pick on it a bit more the wing armament is wrong as only a single machine gun was mounted in each wing. It does have the groves to show where the 20 mm cannons fired through the propeller. The cannon armament was needed to shoot down bombers. I think the bomb was added. Yes it was but the real one could carry a bomb. But the plane had a short range and with a bomb it would be really short.
Last photo is my other Mini-plane fighters.
Excellent fighter plane collection
Love the Minis, like I've said before and I thank you again for sharing. The 109 stayed formidable for a very long period considering the major progression of aircraft technology then. That's very impressive. In the hands of a trained seasoned pilot it was PROVEN lethal. The 109's pilot's biggest threat was his aircraft's squirrelly inward landing gear making take offs and landings a serious challenge. He also couldn't go very far(compared to P-51's, etc.) to fight or stay there long.
Thank you very much Newfld.
Thank you very much Toyrebel. The one other problem was the armament designed to take out bombers and didn't work as well against fighters. But by the time US Fighters were over Germany it was game over anyway.
