This Pompeii is near mint. The ornaments still have the original Japanese bronze finish black with bronze highlights. The dial is made of gutta percha or hard rubber that has oxidized to brown. It was originally black when the clock was new. Also has the embossed open escapement movement with the old style wedge speed adjustment. That places this clock around 1886 to 1889.
