Old trunk that my parents bought and gave to me as I needed a TV stand. Just started stripping it back to its original glory. Just wondering if anyone has any information! The lock on the front says “Y & T” and the clips to the side have a “4” on them.
Great lock!! Leather covered. It looks like someone has removed all the top hardware and top slats and replaced it with a piece of plywood. Weird why they would do that?? Who knows what's underneath condition wise, if they felt the need to add this piece. I have posted two similar ones. From either you can see what could be missing on your lid top. More cost if your looking to bring it back to true original look with all proper parts. Best of luck with your project look forward to seeing it finished.

The Embossed lock was manufactured by Yale and Towne. Above is a picture of the factory.
The number 4 denotes the larger size of the trunk fastener( some are smaller) ,below is an image of the patented Mayfield fastener. Thanks for the post
