It is push type lawn mower. The handle is missing.
Yes, properly called a reel mower. Should be easy to research. Husqvarna has archives going back to when they made musket rifles.
Husqvarna is still selling Rotary Reel Push Mowers. I did a quick look for any info on this particular one, but no luck. fhrjr2, do you have a link for the Husqvarna archives?
No I don't I originally emailed their customer support with a question and they were kind enough to research for me and answer my question. They said at the time they had archived records. Not sure if their archives are open to the public.
That's funny!!! It's a push mower with out the bracket and handles. These were about the only choice one had back until the 70's for homeowners. Maybe they came out with motorized ones just before the 70's but not much sooner, assuming your income was around middle class.
share - I was mowing lawns in the late 1950's through the 60's with a power rotary mower to make money during the summers. The rotary became more popular than the reel type mower and still are today.
Thanks for the info everyone.
I still use a reel mower! I have three, two are modern light weight USA made ones and one is a 60 or 70 year old tank, also USA made. I use the tank, mostly. It is great exercise. The blades on the modern mowers are soft steel and require "frequent" sharpening. I have not had to sharpen the blades on the tank in 20 years. I picked the lightweight USA made ones from people's curbside trash. Guess they dumped them when the blades got dull. For a retirement gift from my company, I got a fancy gas powered mower, but have never taken it out of the box. It is an "age gauge". I will know I am old when I can't push a reel mower any more!
