Today is the 50th anniversary of the May 4, 1970 Kent State Massacre. I was late in my Junior year in High School, with attentions being shifted towards college when this happened. I was horrified that our own government could do this to unarmed students... American students. Proved to be a seminal moment in my awakening political consciousness and a distrust in government overreach which lasts to this day. Through the years I have collected artifacts of this critical moment in time, some quite rare, that should never be forgotten. Funny, it seems so appropriate today to remember what happens when governments, even ours, abuse their power.
I was a junior also when it happened. Remember it well, big moment.
Not sure if the younger generations understand what a devastating moment in history this was... thanks for your comment.
August 4th is another day to remember a disaster. I remember watching this on t.v. - it was horrifying.
