A week or so ago Kevin (kwqd) posted a dear little wooden cat from Japan.
This is my mouse. Well, I think it's a mouse, sans tail.
I love the battuto look caused by the artist's chisel, her dear little feet, ears and whiskers, and the painted on dot eyes and nose.
I found this in a fascinatingly stuffed second hand shop in Chitose, for very few yen. I spent hours in that shop and wished I could carry more home from there!
My mouse was a pleasure to bring home.
    About 5cm high.

These Japanese animals are so quirky and likeable, though the ears make me think of a rabbit? He's very sweet though!

Fat Baby rabbit, wonderful carving with one chunk of fine wood. Thanks Karen, I wish I could follow your interesting ventures.

Love it! Love the way they left the carving marks in it. Great details, fat folds over the front feet, etc. Leaning toward bunny, too, though. Thanks for posting, Karen!!

I thought maybe it was a rabbit. It is very cute.

OK the consensus is in: rabbit not mouse!

As you know Lisa Japan offers so much, including little handcraft items like this.
I will go back as soon as life and finances allow.
      Thanks for the love!

She is a very different style to your cat, Kevin, but they both show the skill and emotion of a talented wood worker.
Isn’t it lovely to hold such sweet things?
      Thanks mate.

      Thanks Glassiegirl!

Thanks too Eileen, and yes I agree now, probably a rabbit kitten. It's a cutie and I still enjoy it and remembering where I found it!

I never said I was an expert on mammals Sue! I want it to be a mouse, even if it is a wabbit.
Very cute mouse, sans tail, rabbit ears, but not a rabbit!
      Ok?
      Oh, not ok.
      No matter.
I will still call it mouse under my breath.

OMG, this {mouse/rabbit} is utterly adorable, chunky and innocent-faced!

(I am OK with it being a mouse. Mice don't get enough love. Maybe it's sitting on its tail ;)

I'm glad you have voted mouse Rhineisfine, they are cuter than rabbits for me :))
It's so cute I agree. For me only the Japanese seem to have a cultural connection to the cute. Kawaii rules!
