    The tools with the little wheels are fudge wheels for marking a pattern along the welt. The tools in pic 2 are for rubbing heelball onto the edges of heels to seal the layers of leather. All of these tools were heated before use. Pic 3 shows some leather knives used by shoemakers. The tools in pic 4 are for pulling the wooden shoe forms out of a completed shoe. The form had a small hole in the side for this purpose.

      Hi Irish!!! I have a bunch of those tools in the barn along with a very old Cobblers bench!! Powder Post Beetles have taken their toll on it!!! Will post soon.

      Nice group of tools, thanks for posting! In the second photo, upper left, looks like a couple of tools with curved blades, no wheels?? What are those used for? To the right of the hafts. Thanks, Lou

      Hello Lou, thanks again for looking in. The tools you mention are welt knives. Only the end of the blade is sharpened and this is pushed along the welt to cut off uneven bits. The sharpened part is not quite the full width of the blade, there is a small projection on the left side of the tip to stop the blade damaging the upper in use. I'll post some more shoe tools soon.
