Part of the group of CDVs I bought. I have been corrected on the date of the Photo based on the photographers name and address on the back. THANK YOU ! I had thought that the photo Was taken 1861-1864 Based on all the other CDVs I had.

I believe that is a civilian coat.

While the backmark could be 1860s, I couldn't find a source for Keyes being in business during the Civil War. Earliest date I found was 1871.

I assumed “ and I know you should never assume “ that this was a Union soldier during the civil war period because of the style of the coat with such a wide outlined lapel. Your help identifying is much appreciated

I’m learning stuff on CW, as I knew I would!
Thank you, scottvez....when I looked at the man and his clothing, I thought that nothing spoke to me as military, Civil War or otherwise. Just a nicely groomed man is his “good” suit of clothes for a photograph.

Your assessments are always of interest to me.

Doesn't look military to me either.
