This little house with gas pumps out front was called , Always Inn. The owners had a little of everything, milk, bread, eggs, gas & oil, odds and ends hardware and a phone that worked most of the time. All local gossip was filtered here and if you didn't already know your neighbors business you could find out right here. The owners lived in the back hence the name Always Inn. Rumor has it that during the 20's if you were a well known local, and brought your own jug your thirst could be quenched for a price.
Very old family photo from the area of Rupert or Pawlet, Vermont.
Very interesting history and cool old photo!
This place reminds me of an old local rural tavern that had an old visible gas pump out front. The place served as a local tavern/hardware/ grocery store for the local farmers, pulpwood harvesters, and hunters back in the day. It was called "Uncle Mikes". You could fill up the family station wagon with gasoline, then go in afterwards to have a cold glass of beer and a pickled egg at the bar. Cool old picture.
Very nice....
