The Madonna Inn is famous hotel along the Central Coast of California. The Central Coast being the area in-between southern a northern California and oddly enough along the coast. The Madonna Inn is a bit inland and at the southern end of San Luis Obispo. One of the larger cities but still picturesque as are all the towns in the area. The Madonna Inn opened in 1958 with 12 rooms which eventually grew to 110 rooms. Each room has a theme, some much more elaborate than others. I stayed there once in the Golf Room. Not sure why as I don't golf.
Postcard #1 is the urinal in the restroom off one of the dining rooms. Yes I have used this urinal and ladies come in to see it when the coast is clear. It is a waterfall and is quite entertaining and probably the most famed feature of the hotel.
The second postcard is the Caveman Room. There are a few rock rooms which are built into the side of the hill. It is one of the most expensive rooms unlike the golf room.
There is much more to this hotel as it covers 1,000 acres. There was some large equestrian event last time I drove by. Perhaps I will stay another night some time.
I went there during a tour of the western states. It was a very touristy tour. We literally stopped there for 30 mins, got took in to see the urinal then got ushered straight out again.
At least I got to pee in the waterfall.
What a “conversation” piece that is!!
Thank you very much elanski. I do not recall seeing a busload of tourists at the time. When I do the tourist thing I like to have my own car and go at my own pace.
Thank you very much Watchsearcher. Yes it is.
